Neilson Active holidays needed a new website to help better reflect the quality and great range of holidays they offer. The offline branding had recently been updated and the new site needed to reflect this, whilst also ensuring people could easily search, find and purchase from the array of fab holidays! The current site was full of great content, but the user interaction and look and feel was letting the site down…. We had a tricky brief to nail but one that would prove very exciting!
Working with the Digital Parent Company, jonwallacedesign – digital design studio, worked from a supplied comprehensive set of new wireframes and proposed user journeys to design out a range of pages for the new site, utilising the new offline branding materials and an array of modern design styles. The resulting site is a real breath of fresh air, with a modern, clean, contemporary and uncluttered user interface through which the fabulous content shines. The site offers the user a unique way of searching for holidays based on how much they want to relax vs fuel their adrenalin rush requirements.
As part of the design process, due to the massive amount of designwork involved in such a complex and comprehensive website, we designed components of the site in isolation and then created our own front-end prototyping workflow to allow us to present all the relevant component parts of the website together through XHTML / CSS and jQuery; this allowed us to create a very close working prototype for the wide range of pages that make up the new site and consequently provided the development team with a pixel-tight set of live previews which they could use to build against.
The new Neilson website offers the customer a refreshing, new experience in online holiday research and booking. The new online Neilson branding invigorates the website content, communicating with real visual impact, using large and exciting photography and visual interaction cues to help the user explore the wealth of content in any way they choose. The new website features a high-quality, modern design skin, befitting the modern approach and sentiments Neilson instil in every holiday they provide to their customers. The website can now be fully recognised as an integral part of the Neilson team - offering assistance and insight to holiday customers looking for a holiday with that extra bit of magic!
Update - 06/11/2012 - The Neilson Holidays website, as designed by jonwallacedesign - digital design studio, has recently won the prestigious TravelMole award for the best travel and tourism website. The TravelMole Web awards are an annual event that is held at the Doubletree-Hilton, Tower of London. The awards congregate delegates from all areas of the Travel Industry, with the awards being judged by a panel of Travel Industry experts.
