Brief

jonwallacedesign - digital design studio were commissioned to take the UX/Visual design leadership on a new, large-scale core banking application containing over 10,000 complex data screens and forms.  The brief was to take the current solution and, in close co-operation with the management team, elevate the overall design aesthetic.  Drawing on design standards used in high-grade consumer applications the aim was to enhance and simplify a very data-rich, multi-layered application.

Solution

jonwallacedesign - digital design studio slotted neatly into the project team working closely with management and developers on three interconnected activities - in-depth design reviews of key application areas and the UX configuration tools being developed; getting design templates and layouts agreed with the management team; and putting design assets into a semi-automated software build process so the team could experience the design improvements. The focus was on how best to elevate the visual language and create a modern, simple and sleek UX.  The new treatment allowed content and views to be simplified, enabling business tasks to operate in a more intuitive manner.  New UI choreography demos were also created for the development team to help illustrate how the new functions needed to operate.  The simplification process was severe, leading to a greatly reduced number of functions and views that provided a much more usable application solution.
